RG 58 (and other coax cable) is equally tricky (IME) and is more expensive if you screw it up. The title of the thread is ".R G 45." and there's discussion of reusing heads. Or did I miss something on these last 2 posts? Ummmm, he's using RJ45s to make cables that adhere to 568B specs. Thought the same damn thing, was scratching my head on that one. If you don't use them already, a really sharp set of cable shears is the best for stripping cable sheaths and cutting super-straight lines to fit perfectly into those connectors. I can still make 'em that look like they came out of a machine but I long ago realized that it's cheaper in most cases to just buy the cables from monoprice. Buy a few hundred - you'll get good at it eventually. You mean R J45! I thought you were going for RG-58. It's funny, I have both ends wired to 568B and it still doesn’t like to always work So when a cable I make doesn’t work, i don’t waste the head.
